Gift mural
The class gift for a teacher, drawn by every student
The class gift for a teacher, drawn by every student
A gift mural is a single picture made from drawings by everyone in a group — a class, a team, a family — printed and framed, or sent as a file.
You are the room parent, so teacher appreciation week is your problem: twenty-four families, a week's notice, and no appetite for sending a poster board home in a backpack and hoping it comes back. A gift mural does the collecting for you — one link in the class group, each child draws one piece on a parent's phone, and the teacher unwraps a framed picture in her students' own drawings and handwriting.
- ▸Pick an apple, a stack of books, an open book, a grad cap or a school bus.
- ▸One link in the parents' group chat. No child account, no app, no sign-in, no email address from a kid.
- ▸Each child draws their own piece with a finger on a parent's phone or tablet — about two minutes, and they never see anyone else's.
- ▸You are not chasing signatures, sending a poster board home in backpacks, or collecting cash.
- ▸When the last child draws, the finished picture is yours — $10 as a file, or framed and shipped to your door.
Set up your gift mural
Step 1 // Choose the occasion
Step 2 // How many patches?
Measuring this shape…
// One patch per artist. Leftover patches are filled with matching colors from the group's palette. The layout is set at purchase and never changes. // Every patch saves room for a paper tag, so every artist can leave a short note.
Step 3 // Choose your keepsake silhouette
MURAL_SHAPE_LOADED // BOOK STACK
Step 4 // Choose the drawing modeoptional
Our choice — we pick Blind-Patch unless you switch to Live Growth.
Each patch stays locked in total isolation. No one sees anyone else's artwork or messages until the final reveal — the finished mural appears all at once as one big surprise.
Step 5 // Give everyone a ruleoptional
A shared rule is what makes twelve different drawings look like one picture. Or skip it and let everyone do their own thing.
Step 6 // When do you need it in hand?
STEP 7 // PICK HOW YOU WANT IT
You get one link to send round. Everyone draws a piece without seeing anyone else's, and the whole picture appears when the last one lands. 24 pieces, one for each of them.

How it works
Three things you do, and nothing else.
- 1 · Pick the shape and the number of people. A soccer ball for the coach, an apple for the teacher, a heart for the grandparents — or their name.
- 2 · Paste one link into the group chat. Nobody makes an account, installs an app or signs in. They tap it and they're drawing.
- 3 · Give it. The moment the last person draws, the whole picture appears at once and your print-ready file is ready — or it arrives framed at your door.

Compare
Gift mural vs a group card board vs a commission.
| Gift mural | Online group card board | Commissioned portrait | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What arrives | One picture in the kids' own drawings and handwriting | A wall of typed comments and gifs | One artist's illustration |
| Who makes it | The children themselves — the players, the class, the cousins | Adults type; nobody draws anything | A stranger, from photos you send |
| Sign-ups for contributors | None — tap the link and let your child draw | Usually an account or email | Not applicable |
| What kids need | A borrowed phone and two minutes; no child account or data | An adult to type on their behalf | Nothing — they are not involved |
| Organizer effort | Send one link; close it when you like | Chase people for comments | Brief, review, revise, wait |
| Can it hang on a wall | Yes — framed print or print-ready file | Hard to print or frame | Yes |
| Cost to the organizer | $10 file · prints from $57 · framed from $120 | Per-board fee, per month | Often $80–$300+ |

Questions
Questions organizers ask.
I'm room parent — how do I get 24 kids to make something without sending poster board home in backpacks?
You send one link instead. A gift mural is a single picture made from drawings by everyone in a group — a class, a team, a family — printed and framed, or sent as a file. You drop the link in the class group chat, each kid draws their piece on a parent's phone, and you get a print-ready file or a framed print — nothing travels in a backpack and nothing comes back creased.
Does our teacher really want another mug or Starbucks card?
She has a cabinet full of mugs. This is one framed picture made entirely of her students' own drawings and handwriting, with every kid's first name on it — the kind of thing that stays on a classroom wall for years.
How many students can take part?
Between 5 and 30 pieces, depending on the shape. A stack of books fits 24 and an open book fits 30, so a full class works. The setup shows the limit before you pay and merges any pieces that would end up too small.
Do I need permission from the school?
There's nothing for the school to approve. Kids draw at home on a parent's phone, not on school devices or school time, and no student account, email address or school name is ever collected.
Is it private? Our district is strict about student data.
There are no student accounts, no kid email addresses and no student profiles. A child taps the link, draws with a finger, and adds a first name only if they want to. Nothing is public, nothing is searchable, and nobody outside your link ever sees it.
When should we start it for Teacher Appreciation Week?
Send the link in late April for a printed piece in the first week of May: about five days for the class to draw, then a few more to make and ship it. The $10 file is ready minutes after the last kid finishes, so that option works right up to the morning of.
How much does each family pay?
Nothing, unless you want to split it. You pay once — $10 for the file, from $57 for a poster with a hanger, from $120 framed. Across a class of 20 to 24 families that's $3 or less each for the poster and $5 to $6 for the framed one.
Can children do it at home?
That's how it's meant to work. Parents tap the link on their own phone or tablet whenever it suits them, hand it to their child, and the piece takes about two minutes.
What if some families don't take part?
Every room parent knows that feeling. You don't have to wait on them — close the picture whenever you're ready and the empty pieces fill with colors from the class's own palette, so the finished gift looks complete and nobody's absence shows.
Can we do one for a teaching assistant or the bus driver too?
Yes — set up a second one with a different shape (a school bus, an apple, a kite) and send the class the second link. It's a separate picture and a separate price, so the aide, the specials teacher or the bus driver gets their own thing.
